Ayrshire Winter Golf Association competition at Kilmarnock Barassoe

Mike Paterson wins despite lost-ball, double-bogey start to round

A lost ball with his  opening tee shot, resulting in a double  bogey start at the par 5 first, did not stop Mike Paterson (Kilmalcolm) winning the first Ayrshire Winter Golf Association (AWGA) event of the New Year at Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club.
Paterson’s three-under-par 69 gave the Kilmalcolm professional a five-shot victory with John Henry (Clydebank and District), Conor O’Neil (Mearns Castle) and Steven Maxwell (Eastwood) tied for second after carding 74s.
NE'ER DAY TROPHY
The Amateur Ne'er Day Trophy was won by Stewart Shaw. The two handicapper from Glasgow Gailes had a net 70 for a one-shot victory from Royal Troon’s John Rushbury, who plays off three.
