Harburn's Andy McElhinney wins at windy

Winterfield with a net 65

A very testing challenge for 61 East Alliance members, who got a very warm welcome at Winterfield's Clubhouse, East Lothian today.
However, outside while sunshine and blue sky was in abundance the wind factor was at maximum velocity to try and interrupt  play. Despite this play was completed and a fine score of 74 which could have been in the scratch prizes by Harburn's Andy McElhinney claimed the silverware by five shots with a net 65  (74 less 9) to gain The T C Jordan Trophy and the top handicap prize.

The par 65 course with its eight par 3s meant gaining pars would be hard in the conditions and thanks go to all the players in meeting the challenge.

On the scratch front the top prize was shared on 70 by Glenbervie's Tony Boyle and Houston Golf Range professional Andy Marshall with third spot also being split between professional and amateur ranks via Richard Johnston (Glenbervie) and Jamie McLeary (Dalmahoy).

Handicap prizes resulted in a share of second prize on net 70 by Robin Cockburn (Harburn) (75 less 5) and Ian Fyfe (Musselburgh) (72 less 2).

Top Trainee on 78 was Scott Gillies (Craigielaw).

Top Senior Prize went to East Alliance stalwart George Wither (Duddingston)  on net 72 (75 less 3).

2. Andy Rothney (Deer Park) - 496.0
