GORDON MUNRO SCORES THIRD WIN OF NORTH-

EAST ALLIANCE SEASON

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Newmachar's +3 amateur Gordon Munro chalked up his third win of the North-east Golfers' Alliance season  and his second of the month with an impressive three-under-par round of 67 in the worst of the cold and very windy conditions at Peterhead Golf Club's Craigewan links today.
Munro (pictured) pipped professsional Chris Robb, attached to Meldrum House Golf Club, by a single stroke, thanks to an eagle 2 downwind at the par-4 17th.
Munro also had birdies at the second, eighth, and 11th, offset by bogeys at the sixth and 12th in halves of 34-33.
Robb, who had halves of 34, covered the last six holes in three-under-par with birdies at the 13th, 15th and 17th but that was not enough to get the better of Munro. The former Scottish amateur champion had earlier birdies the first, third and eighth but he had more bogeys than his rival - at the second, sixth, 10th and 11th.
Munro earned a £140 voucher for heading a field of 83 competitors.
