High winds blow Alliance scores sky high at Spey Bay: Cassie wins with a 79

By MICHAEL MacDOUGALL
Ice-cold high winds resulted in the highest general level of scoring in a North-east Golfers Alliance for many a long year  at Spey Bay Golf Club on the Moray Firth coastline today.
Charlie Cassie (Nigg Bay) won the top scratch prize in Alliance fixture for the first time with a nine-over-par round of 79, four ahead of four players on 83. Cassie won a £100 voucher. The joint second-place finishers a £65 voucher each.
A large number of call-offs resulted in a total absence of professionals, another first for a NE Alliance.
